Over the years I have learned that you cannot say a fleece coat has to be brushed once per 2 weeks and a curly coat has to be brushed once per 4 weeks. Because every curly/woolen/fleece coatis different . Which makes the frequency of brushing different.
Also the environment of the dog has it reflections on how often you should brush your dog. If you have small kids for instance who cuddle your dog with peanut butter on their faces or your dog loves to roll in the mud…This will result in a dirty coat and a dirty coat will matt faster than a coat that stays clean.
So the only one who can tell how often you should brush your dog is you.
This is how you find out how often you should brush your dog in order to keep him/her tanglefree.
Brush your dog very thoroughly in small layers. (Watch our instruction video here https://youtu.be/4GNl9qoKPlU?feature=shared) Wash your dog using a good dogshampoo. Rinse out carefully. Dry the coat with a booster or föhn. Use conditionerspray for dogs.
Brush and wash again exactly the same as described above 2 weeks later.
- If the brushing is difficult because the coat is very matted…2 weeks is too long for your dog inbetween 2 brushingsessions so you should brush every week*. (But more likely you have to make your layers smaller)
- If the brushing is very easy and your done in no time, congratulations your brushing skills are good so you can try 3 weeks inbetween 2 brushingsessions or even 4.
- If the brushing is ok. You could try 3 weeks inbetween 2 brushingsessions or keep it by 2 weeks. Whatever you like.
Succes!
*If you brush your dog every week you cannot wash each time as well. You then use a coatconditioner inbetween.
